On September 14, 2009, TTACC organized 4th traditional annual dinner with Texas senator Rodney Ellis as the key note speaker at Sugarland Marriott Hotel. Besides Consul General of Turkey Akil Oktem and Deputy Consul Ali Findik, the Turkish and American businessmen and women, local business media, and organizations participated at the dinner. Senator Ellis presented their awards to the most successful entrepreneur and the company of 2009. TTACC president Ertugrul Akkus also presented the “Award of Chamber” to Senator Ellis. Guests enjoyed not only the meaning of breaking fast together, but also learned about the possible new trade opportunities in Turkey.
As the first speaker in the event, businesswoman Margie V. Moore talked about her impressions during her visit to Turkey for The Turkiye-World Trade Bridge 2009 organization which was another important event organized by TUSKON. “This past June, I traveled to Turkey for the first time and participated in the Turkiye-World Trade Bridge 2009 event in Istanbul. As a small-business owner, I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to expand my business and explore new opportunities in that region. I will soon be importing starling silver jewelry from Turkey. I was so impressed with the hospitality of people in Turkey, historical and cultural values and business opportunities.” said Moore.
Loretta Cross, who is the manager of the 5th biggest financial company in the world, also expressed her warm feelings about business and travel opportunities in Turkey. She pointed out how wonderful business culture Turkey has and encouraged business people to invest in Turkey.
As for the key-note speaker, Senator Rodney Ellis thanked Turkey for its positive role in fighting terrorism and contributing to world peace. He added that the American people will never forget Turkey’s contribution. Senator Ellis received an award from the president of the chamber and distributed awards to businessman and the company of the year.
